Health Benefits of Papaya and Pineapple

I’ve heard a lot of debates about whether it is good to eat fruits because at the end of the day, the body can’t differentiate between one kind of sugar or another. That said, fruit isn’t only made of fructose, but fibre, vitamins and minerals as well. Fructose is only harmful in large amounts, more than you would consume in fruits. The soluble fibre in fruits makes them slower to digest, meaning fructose doesn’t hit the liver as quickly. And they are packed full of important vitamins and minerals – as well as antioxidants and phytonutrients, reducing the risks of disease. Let’s look at some of the health benefits of two fruits in particular known to be great for the gut: papaya and pineapple. Papaya Papaya is rich in fibre, vitamin C and antioxidants all of which contribute towards reducing cholesterol. It improves digestion – supporting weight loss – as well as boosts the immune system. High in Vitamin A, papaya improves eye sight and helps to promote hair growth while preventing signs of ageing. Pineapple Like papaya, pineapples help with digestion and to boost the immune system as they are filled with important vitamins and minerals such as potassium, copper, manganese, calcium, magnesium, and vitamin C. Did you know that one of the major benefits of Vitamin C is that it plays an important role in the creation of collagen? Both papaya and pineapple are also natural enzymes and anti inflammatory food compounds. Thus you can take care of your microbiome by feeding it daily with foods that help to boost your gut (and overall) health – such as papaya and pineapple!
